Lead Mechanical Rotating Engineer Contract Type: Outside IR35 Working Location: Hybrid - approximately 3 days per month on site (Flintshire) Start Date: ASAP Sector: Oil & Gas | Rotating Equipment | Asset Reliability Key Responsibilities - Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams on live operational assets - Drive reliability improvement and asset performance initiatives for both onshore and offshore facilities - Plan and prioritise maintenance activities for rotating and static equipment - Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement performance improvements - Support minor modifications and upgrade projects (MOC) - Collaborate with contractors and manage technical scope delivery - Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and regulatory requirements - Contribute to project activities including HAZOP, SIL reviews, and technical studies - Act as technical authority for rotating and lifting equipment systems - Support decommissioning and energy transition projects Requirements - Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline - Substantial experience within oil & gas or heavy industrial environments - Proven background working with rotating equipment, power generation, or lifting systems - Experience supporting live operational assets, onshore or offshore - Strong understanding of maintenance, reliability, and risk-based methodologies - Familiarity with UK and EU engineering standards and regulations - Chartered or working towards chartered status (IMechE or equivalent) - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Additional Information - Hybrid / office-based role with regular site visits (onshore & offshore) - Offshore certification (BOSIET / HUET) beneficial or willingness to obtain This is a hands-on opportunity to become a technical leader, influence asset performance, and contribute to key projects including decommissioning and the ongoing energy transition.
