Technical Buyer / Buyer / Procurement Coordinator Northamptonshire £35,000 - £40,000 DOE Permanent | Monday to Friday An established precision engineering and manufacturing business in Northamptonshire is looking to appoint an experienced Technical Buyer to support the day-to-day management of purchasing, supplier coordination and procurement activity across the business. Operating within a highly regulated technical environment supplying sectors such as aerospace, automotive and defence, this role plays a key part in ensuring materials, components and subcontract services are sourced efficiently, competitively and in line with production requirements. This is a hands-on buying role suited to somebody with previous engineering or manufacturing purchasing experience who is confident managing supplier quotations, purchase orders, expediting deliveries and controlling supplier performance. Main Duties • Preparing and issuing Request for Quotations (RFQs) across engineering materials, components and subcontract services • Reviewing supplier quotations and benchmarking pricing • Negotiating supplier costs, lead times and purchasing terms • Raising and managing purchase orders from placement through to delivery • Expediting suppliers to ensure materials arrive in line with production deadlines • Resolving supply delays, shortages, discrepancies and urgent order amendments • Liaising daily with suppliers regarding availability, delivery schedules and service levels • Monitoring supplier performance and identifying cost-saving opportunities • Supporting goods received matching and invoice approval processes • Maintaining accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation • Working closely with operations, production and finance teams to ensure smooth order flow • Analysing purchasing trends, pricing movement and supplier efficiencies Candidate Requirements • Previous experience within a Buyer, Technical Buyer, Procurement Coordinator, Purchasing Coordinator or Supply Chain role • Strong purchasing and procurement experience within engineering, manufacturing or technical production • Experience managing RFQs, supplier quotations and purchase orders • Confident supplier negotiation skills • Experience expediting live orders against operational deadlines • Strong commercial awareness and cost control mindset • Excellent organisation and administration skills • High attention to detail • ERP / MRP / SAP purchasing system knowledge advantageous • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with purchasing experience in: • Precision Engineering • Aerospace • Automotive • Defence • CNC / Machining • Fabrication • Technical Manufacturing • Industrial Production This opportunity offers a: • Permanent Monday to Friday position • Stable and established manufacturing environment • Broad supplier and purchasing responsibility • Business-critical role within operations • Long-term career opportunity Apply with your CV today.
