Fabric Engineer – Retail / External Grounds Location: Bluewater Shopping Centre, Dartford Company: CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) Contract: Full‑time Role Overview We are recruiting a Fabric Engineer to deliver planned and reactive fabric maintenance across a large, high‑profile retail shopping centre. This role includes responsibility for external building fabric and grounds, alongside internal PPMs. Key Responsibilities * Deliver PPM and reactive fabric maintenance across the site * Carry out general fabric works: carpentry, patch repairs, basic plumbing, painting & decorating * Inspect and maintain fire doors and internal finishes * Take ownership of external fabric and grounds, including paving, street furniture, handrails, bollards, signage and external fixtures * Complete routine external inspections and raise defects proactively * Coordinate and oversee specialist subcontractors for external / grounds works * Use CAFM / PDA systems to log and close works accurately * Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety requirements, especially in public areas Skills & Experience * Proven experience as a Fabric Engineer / Fabric Technician * Strong all‑round building fabric skillset (carpentry preferred) * Experience working with external fabric or grounds maintenance * Comfortable working in busy, public‑facing retail environments * Good understanding of PPM delivery and reactive maintenance * Health & Safety awareness (RAMS, COSHH, Working at Height) Desirable: * Civils qualification * IPAF, PASMA, manual handling competency * Fire door experience * Retail or large estate experience What’s on Offer * Stable, site‑based role on a flagship retail contract * Career progression within CBRE GWS * Ongoing training and development
