Estimator – Civils & Utilities Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire (office-based with flexibility to work from home) Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 per annum Benefits: Company vehicle or car allowance, 26 days holiday, healthcare, annual bonus, pension About the Opportunity We are working with a reputable civil engineering contractor delivering projects across infrastructure, utilities, substations and renewable energy sectors. As part of their continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team based in Barnsley. This is a full-time, primarily office-based role with flexibility to work from home, offering the chance to be involved in a wide range of projects and play a key role in securing new business. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civils and utilities projects Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation to build accurate pricing Source and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations Identify risks, opportunities and value engineering options within tenders Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive and compliant submissions Attend tender meetings and liaise with clients where required Maintain strong relationships with supply chain and key stakeholders Ensure all tenders are submitted accurately and within deadlines Support handover of successful bids to delivery teams Requirements Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Estimator within civils, utilities, groundworks or infrastructure Strong understanding of construction methods and pricing Experience working on utilities, substations or renewable projects is desirable Strong analytical and numerical skills Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines Good communication and organisational skills Relevant qualification in Construction, Engineering or similar (or equivalent experience) Full UK driving licence preferred What’s on Offer £40,000 – £60,000 per annum (depending on experience) Company vehicle or car allowance 26 days annual leave Healthcare package Annual bonus Pension scheme
