Lead Engineer (VP) | Fixed Income Trading Platform Modernisation | London (Hybrid – 3 days onsite) | Up to £130,000 + strong benefits Overview: An opportunity has opened for a Lead Engineer (VP) to play a key role in transforming a Rates and Credit Fixed Income technology platform as part of a major multi-year front-office modernisation programme. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role focused on building real-time, high-performance trading applications supporting business-critical workflows across the Fixed Income landscape. You’ll work closely with traders, quants and senior stakeholders to design and deliver scalable systems across a modern event-driven architecture stack. What you’ll be doing: Building real-time, high-performance microservices supporting rates and credit trading workflows Designing end-to-end full-stack solutions across distributed systems and trading UIs Delivering low-latency event-driven interfaces handling large streaming datasets Partnering directly with front-office stakeholders to shape platform evolution Driving engineering best practices across architecture, CI/CD, testing and code quality Influencing the long-term strategy of a major Fixed Income technology modernisation programmeWhat we’re looking for: Strong experience building complex, high-performance Java applications in distributed environments, alongside: Expertise with modern Java, concurrency and reactive programming Experience building low-latency, real-time UIs Strong understanding of event-driven architectures Messaging technologies such as Kafka, Solace or RabbitMQ Experience with WebSockets, SSE or reactive UI frameworks REST + event-driven API design experience Strong SQL and relational database knowledge Experience deploying services using Kubernetes A track record of promoting engineering excellence across teamsPackage: Salary up to £130,000 Hybrid working (3 days per week onsite in London) Large-scale platform transformation programme Strong engineering culture with modern tooling Opportunity to influence long-term architecture direction Clear VP-level progression opportunities
