Job Title: HVAC Engineer – Planned Maintenance Location: Mobile role covering rail stations between Stoke-on-Trent and Rugby on the West Coast Main Line (WCML) Benefits: * Company van with fuel card (all fuel, maintenance and insurance covered) * Overtime opportunities * 25 days holiday + bank holidays * Pension scheme * Rail industry training and certification support Job Purpose To deliver high-quality planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs on HVAC systems across a dedicated section of the West Coast Main Line. You will work independently from a company van, ensuring heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment at passenger stations remains safe, reliable and compliant with rail standards. Key Responsibilities * Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on HVAC plant including boilers, chillers, air handling units, fan coil units, VRF/VRV systems, extract fans and controls. * Respond promptly to reactive callouts and emergency breakdowns to minimise station downtime and passenger disruption. * Diagnose faults, repair or replace components, and recommission systems to full operational standard. * Complete all works in accordance with rail safety protocols, station access procedures and permit-to-work systems. * Maintain accurate records of works, test results, parts used and asset condition using mobile devices and the company’s CMMS. * Liaise with station staff, Network Rail and other contractors as required. * Perform minor installation or modification works when instructed. * Ensure personal and public safety at all times, including correct use of PPE and adherence to OLE, trackside and station rules. Essential Requirements * Recognised HVAC qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 7189/6150, NVQ Level 2/3 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or equivalent). * Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points). * Ability to work at height, in confined spaces and unsocial hours (nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis). * Basic IT skills for handheld devices and digital reporting. Desirable * Rail industry experience or PTS (Personal Track Safety) card. * F-Gas Category 1 certification. * Experience with building management systems (BMS) and controls. * Knowledge of rail station environments and passenger safety requirements. Working Pattern * Predominantly Monday–Friday (early/late shifts), with occasional night shifts and weekend call-out on a rota. * All travel time between home and first/last station is paid.
