Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – SEN & SEMH Location: Wigan OR Bolton Agency: Teaching Personnel Age Range: 3–19 years Contract Type: Full-time Only (Monday - Friday, 0830-15:30) Term Time Only unless taken on Permanentley  Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to work across a range of primary, secondary, and specialist provisions in Wigan and Bolton. These roles involve supporting pupils aged 3–19 with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The Role: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both academically and emotionally. You may be working on a 1:1 basis or with small groups, helping to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment tailored to individual needs. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities Support students with behavioural challenges, using de-escalation techniques where required Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies Encourage positive social interaction and emotional regulation Support with personal care where necessary (depending on the setting) Promote safeguarding and wellbeing at all times Requirements: Experience working with children or young people (school, care, youth work or similar) Understanding of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs Calm, patient, and resilient approach Strong communication and teamwork skills A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply) Desirable: Team Teach or other behaviour management training Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, or degree in education/psychology) What Teaching Personnel Offer: Competitive daily rates of pay Flexible working to suit your availability Opportunities for long-term and permanent placements Ongoing training and professional development - Free CPD courses Discounted Team Teach Course Discounted Level 2 TA Course Dedicated consultant support This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.
