Assistant Geologist

Assistant Geologist Location: Nottingham Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience) + benefits An excellent opportunity has become available for an Assistant Geologist to join a well-established ground investigation and geotechnical consultancy in Nottingham. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with up to a couple of years of experience looking to build a career within the ground investigation sector. You will join a supportive team of geologists and geotechnical engineers working on a wide range of projects across the UK, including infrastructure, residential, commercial and environmental developments. The Role As an Assistant Geologist, you will be involved in both site and office-based work, supporting the delivery of ground investigation projects from initial site works through to reporting. Your responsibilities will include: Assisting with site investigations including boreholes, trial pits and window sampling Soil and rock logging in accordance with British Standards Collecting and managing soil and groundwater samples Assisting with gas and groundwater monitoring Liaising with drilling contractors and site teams Assisting with the preparation of factual ground investigation reports Supporting senior staff with data collection and interpretationRequirements Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geoscience or a related subject Strong interest in ground investigation and geotechnical engineering Full UK driving licence Good communication and organisational skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a teamBenefits Competitive starting salary Full training and mentoring from senior engineers Opportunity to work towards chartership Company pension scheme Flexible working options Excellent career progression within the geotechnical sectorThis is a great opportunity to join a growing consultancy and gain hands-on experience working on a variety of projects while developing your technical skills within a supportive environment.
