Senior / Lead Electrical Design Engineer – Data Centres €90,000 - €100,000 + Holidays + Package Location: Lisbon / Sintra, Portugal (Local Hire) A highly respected specialist engineering consultancy operating at the forefront of hyperscale and mission-critical data centre design is expanding its Portugal-based team. This consultancy is trusted by top-tier contractors, hyperscalers, and global technology clients to deliver technically rigorous, resilient electrical design solutions on some of Europe’s most complex digital infrastructure projects. Known for its engineering-first culture, the business gives senior engineers real influence over design decisions rather than siloed delivery. You will act as a technical lead on major data centre projects, taking ownership of electrical design from early concept through detailed design and construction support. Key Responsibilities • Lead electrical design for Tier III / Tier IV data centre facilities • Develop HV/MV/LV power strategies, redundancy models, UPS, and generator systems • Manage electrical design through all RIBA / project stages • Coordinate closely with mechanical, BIM, architectural, and commissioning teams • Review and approve calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical submissions • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers • Support site teams through construction, energisation, and commissioning • Ensure full compliance with international standards and client requirements Requirements • Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer • Strong data centre electrical design experience (essential) • In-depth knowledge of HV/LV distribution, switchgear, UPS, and backup generation • Background in design consultancy or specialist engineering advisory roles • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Why Join • Work for a pure engineering consultancy — not a volume-driven contractor • Influence design strategy on flagship hyperscale projects • Stable, long-term pipeline of European data centre work • Clear progression into senior, principal, and design leadership roles
