Commercial Gas Service Engineer (Field-Based) West Sussex and Hampshire Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Commercial Gas Service Engineer to support our commercial building services and maintenance operations across the West Sussex and Hampshire regions. This field-based role involves servicing, repairing, fault-finding, and installing commercial gas systems across a variety of sites. You will ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations. Key Responsibilities for the Commercial Gas Engineer * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on commercial gas systems, including boilers, heating plant, burners and associated controls. * Perform annual servicing and safety checks in line with Gas Safe and manufacturer standards. * Attend reactive breakdowns, diagnosing faults and completing repairs to commercial gas-fired equipment. * Install and commission new commercial gas systems where required. * Conduct statutory testing and produce compliant safety certification. * Follow and contribute to Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). * Maintain accurate job records, service logs, certificates and digital reporting. * Manage van stock and ensure essential parts are available. * Provide system handovers, offering guidance to clients on operation and maintenance. * Participate in on-call / emergency response rota as needed. * Keep updated with technical and regulatory developments within the commercial gas sector. Person Specification for the Commercial Gas Engineer Essential * Valid Gas Safe registration with commercial ACS qualifications (e.g., COCN1, CODNCO1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1 or similar). * Demonstrable experience working on commercial gas systems in servicing, maintenance, breakdown and installation. * Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with commercial boiler plant. * Sound knowledge of health & safety regulations and safe working practices. * Full UK driving licence. * Confident communicator with the ability to explain technical issues clearly. * Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise workload. Desirable * Additional experience within HVAC, electrical, controls or building management systems. * Familiarity with CAFM/CRM job management systems. * Knowledge of newer technologies such as hybrid heating or renewable systems. Working Conditions & Hours Field-based role attending multiple commercial sites. Full-time hours, Monday to Friday (with flexibility as required). Participation in on-call rota.
