We're seeking a Fleet Compliance Officer with a strong grasp of transport legislation and driver standards to support the Transport Manager in ensuring full compliance across fleet, driver behaviour, and operational processes. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on detail, enjoys coaching drivers, and takes pride in keeping fleets safe, compliant, and audit‑ready. ⭐ Key Responsibilities In this compliance‑critical role, you will: Compliance & Governance Carry out routine gate checks across operating sites to ensure full adherence to O‑Licence requirements. Participate in driver debriefs, managing infringements and supporting corrective action plans. Assist with day‑to‑day transport compliance administration, ensuring accurate, timely record‑keeping. Support continuous auditing of fleet condition, daily defect reporting, and roadworthiness standards. Driver Assessment & Training Deliver new driver inductions and essential compliance-led training. Conduct practical and theory-based driving assessments for new starters. Implement a structured programme of annual driver reassessments. Deliver toolbox talks, refresher training, and fleet‑specific instruction across various vehicle types. Provide vehicle‑specific operational training (e.g., bin-lift, HGV operations, council systems). Undertake training to support future delivery of Driver CPC modules. ⭐ What We're Looking For Knowledge You must demonstrate strong understanding of: Operator Licensing legislation and compliance obligations Drivers' Hours & Working Time Regulations Highway Code & modern driving standards Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness DVSA Categorisation of Defects Health & Safety within transport environments, including risk management Skills Confident communicator - able to deliver training to groups and individuals Strong problem-solving mindset with a compliance-first approach Able to work under pressure and react quickly to operational demands Competent with digital systems and administrative processes Experience Essential: Delivering formal driving assessments in a large operational workforce Providing on-the-job transport or vehicle training Experience managing or supervising professional driversDesirable: Analysing tachograph data and driver performance Carrying out gate checks or compliance audits Creating and delivering toolbox talks, driver briefings, or compliance updates Qualifications Essential: Recognised Driving Assessor qualification Category C driving licence OLAT certificate (or willingness to obtain) Relevant Driver/Operator training certificates ⭐ Why Join the team?
