Senior Engineering Geologist / Site Engineer Location: Chelmsford, Essex Company Type: Ground Investigation Contractor Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive, based on experience 🌍 About the Role A leading ground investigation contractor in Chelmsford is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Engineering Geologist / Site Engineer to join their expanding team. This is a hands-on role involving site supervision, geotechnical logging, and project delivery across a range of infrastructure and development schemes. 🔧 Key Responsibilities * Lead and supervise ground investigation works including cable percussive, rotary, and window sampling rigs * Conduct detailed logging of soil and rock samples to BS5930 standards * Manage site operations, ensuring health & safety compliance and quality control * Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution * Prepare factual and interpretive reports for geotechnical and geo-environmental assessments * Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical development within the team 🎓 Requirements * Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline * Minimum 5 years’ experience in ground investigation or site engineering * Strong understanding of UK ground investigation techniques and standards * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites * CSCS card and relevant site certifications (e.g. SMSTS, First Aid) desirabl
