This contract offers stability through to August 2026 and hands-on involvement with critical Ground Support Equipment used in operational environments. This General Engineering Workshop Technician Engineer role suits an experienced mechanical engineer who is comfortable working in a regulated, heavy engineering setting and enjoys fault finding, refurbishment and complex repair activity. Contract Details * Job Title: General Engineering Workshop Technician Engineer * Location: Stafford – full time onsite * Contract Length: Until mid-August * IR35 Status: In scope * Pay Rate: £21.52 per hour (Umbrella) The Role As a General Engineering Workshop Technician Engineer, you will form part of a specialist engineering team providing technical expertise across a wide range of Ground Support Equipment (GSE). The focus of the role is on surveying, refurbishment, repair and maintenance, ensuring all equipment meets strict engineering, safety and governance standards. The General Engineering Workshop Technician Engineer will be involved in both planned and ad-hoc advanced repairs, working from approved engineering documentation, legacy data or OEM information where available. You will also contribute to urgent operational requirements, often where OEM support is limited, requiring strong engineering judgement and practical problem-solving. Key Responsibilities As a General Engineering Workshop Technician Engineer, you will be responsible for: * Carrying out self-directed testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification, calibration and manufacture of equipment down to module or component level * Working strictly to approved engineering documentation, procedures and techniques * Holding responsibility for self-certification, over-signing, certifying and conditioning equipment (serviceable, unserviceable or scrap) * Supervising, training and over-signing the work of junior engineers and apprentices * Undertaking feasibility and development activities, including reverse engineering and creation of supporting engineering documentation and test procedures * Using multiple internal IT systems accurately and compliantly * Providing specialist technical advice as required * Working within defined engineering governance frameworks, policies and legislation Person Specification To be considered for this General Engineering Workshop Technician Engineer role, you will need: * Proven experience in scheduled maintenance and repair within an engineering or heavy engineering environment * Eligibility to meet the criteria for professional registration as EngTech in line with UK-SPEC * One of the following qualifications: * Level 4 qualification with an advanced or higher engineering apprenticeship, or * Level 3 qualification with a nationally recognised engineering apprenticeship and relevant engineering experience within your discipline or specialism Why Apply Through Ceto Talent Ceto Talent specialises in technical and engineering recruitment across regulated industries.
