Subject Matter Expert - Weapons Engineering Submariner (WESM) – Tactical Weapon Systems (TWS) Remote with occasional travel to Reading – 6 month contract Inside IR35 (40 hours per week) The Role The Weapons Engineering Submarine (WESM) Tactical Weapons System (TWS) Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for gathering and validating technical data to support courseware and media development programmes. The WESM TWS SME will possess strong knowledge, skills, and behaviours to understand technical data requirements, identify reliable data sources, and ensure correct access to that data. You will work closely with Requirements, Courseware, and Media Teams to identify technical data needs for the development of Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) courseware and media. You will also ensure training language, context, conditions, and standards are correctly applied. Key Responsibilities * Work as part of a team responsible for the analysis, design, maintenance, review, and production of DSAT documentation and processes. * Interview subject matter experts to gather required data and participate in workshops to agree findings from analysis. * Liaise with customers, agents, and suppliers to identify technical data requirements and routes to obtain that data. * Support courseware and media developers to contextualise training and ensure appropriate standards and conditions are applied. * Maintain, update, and revalidate course technical data. * Identify opportunities to better exploit existing training methods and media. * Champion and promote a strong culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement. * Undertake any other duties required to support the training service delivery. Essential Requirements • Proven at-sea experience as a WESM TWS, for example in a TWEO, DWEO, or TWS Group Chief/Head role.
