Principal Surveyor (RICS Chartered) Hybrid | National Travel | Up to £70,000 + Car (or £ value) + 20% Bonus + Benefits Full-Time | Permanent Would suit locations: Midlands, Staffordshire etc areas to facilitate nationwide travel We’re seeking an experienced RICS‑Chartered Building Surveyor to step into a senior role leading survey activity, capital project input and asset strategy across a diverse national estate. If you have public sector or secure‑environment experience and enjoy managing people and stakeholders, this is an exceptional opportunity. Key Responsibilities * Lead delivery of condition surveys, defect analysis and technical reporting * Develop repair, maintenance, lifecycle and upgrade strategies * Oversee and support capital works and asset replacement planning * Manage and mentor a small team of Surveyors and QS/Estimators * Help prepare project briefs, specifications, scopes and tender documentation * Support procurement, tender evaluation and contractor selection * Work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver estate, safety and compliance objectives Essential Requirements * RICS Chartered Building Surveyor – mandatory * Strong experience in building construction, fabric and building services * Excellent understanding of CDM Regulations * Experience leading or managing a small surveying or technical team * Confident stakeholder manager with the ability to influence at senior levels * Strong commercial awareness and understanding of procurement/tender processes * Flexibility for national travel, including overnight stays Highly Advantageous Experience Candidates with any of the following will stand out: * Government or public sector estates * MoJ, MoD, defence or justice environments * Custodial, secure, detention or critical operational sites * PFI/PPP or complex FM‑led estates What’s on Offer * Salary up to £70,000 * Company car (or £ value) + 20% bonus + benefits * Private Medical Cover * 25 days annual leave + bank holidays * Up to 6% pension contribution * Extensive training, CPD support and development opportunities * Wellbeing support, retail discounts and employee benefits * Supportive, collaborative and inclusive working culture Who This Role Suits This role is ideal for a senior or principal surveyor who wants to: ✔ Lead a team and shape surveying standards ✔ Influence capital planning and asset strategy ✔ Work across meaningful, complex and operationally sensitive environments ✔ Take on a role with visibility, responsibility and professional growth
