Job Profile for- MC45531 Position: Mechanical Design Draftsman / CAD Technician Location: Wood Green Salary: Competitive - dependent on experience A specialist engineering manufacturer supplying high-quality pump and fluid handling equipment to a global customer base is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Draftsman to support continued growth at their UK facility. This is an excellent opportunity to apply strong CAD and technical drawing skills within a precision engineering environment, producing detailed manufacturing documentation and 3D models for complex mechanical components and assemblies. Graduates with relevant qualifications will be considered. Job Overview 3D Modelling: Create and modify complex 3D parts and assemblies using SolidWorks. Technical Documentation: Produce detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and weldment callouts. Design Flair: Contribute to the "look and feel" and mechanical efficiency of products, suggesting improvements to existing designs. BOM Management: Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the procurement and production teams. Collaboration: Work closely with senior engineers to iterate on designs based on testing feedback and manufacturing constraints. Data Management: Maintain organized CAD libraries and follow strict version control protocols (PDM). Requirements Education: Recently completed formal training in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related technical field (e.g., BEng, HND, or Level 3/4 Apprenticeship). Software Proficiency: Highly skilled in SolidWorks (CSWA/CSWP certification is a plus) and general 3D CAD environments. Mechanical Aptitude: A natural "flair" for understanding how things work, with knowledge of mechanical components like gears, linkages, and structural frames. Manufacturing Knowledge: Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, and 3D printing.
