Fire & Security Service Engineer – Southwark, London Job Title: Fire & Security Service Engineer Department: Service / Engineering Reports To: Field Line Manager Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (40 hours per week) Primary Location: Field-based – Southwark Borough, London Salary: £48,000 – £52,000 per annum (depending on experience) Role Description We are seeking an experienced Fire & Security Service Engineer to support service and maintenance works across the Southwark borough. This is a local-patch role, focused on servicing, fault-finding, and small works across a range of fire and security systems while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining full compliance with industry standards. Main Duties & Responsibilities Preparation & Planning Maintain accurate van stock control and equipment storage in coordination with the Stores function Complete monthly vehicle, compliance, and health & safety checks Remain up to date with industry developments to ensure best-practice service delivery Service Delivery & Fault Resolution Service, maintain, and carry out small works on: Fire Alarm Systems CCTV Systems Intruder Alarms Access Control Systems Diagnose and rectify system faults efficiently and professionally Respond promptly to reactive call-outs within the local area Provide on-site technical support and complete accurate service reports and job documentation Compliance & Quality Ensure all works comply with company procedures, British Standards, and health & safety regulations Proactively identify and report any compliance or safeguarding issues Customer Engagement & Collaboration Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients Represent the business professionally as the frontline engineer Advise customers on system improvements, upgrades, and lifecycle planning Identify opportunities to enhance customer safety provisions and report to Service Coordinators for quotation follow-up Work collaboratively with Service Coordinators to support workflow efficiency and customer satisfaction Flexibility & Responsiveness Participate in an out-of-hours call-out and/or technical support rota where required Skills & Experience Experience Ideally 2–3+ years’ experience servicing and maintaining fire and security systems Technical Skills Fault diagnosis and rectification across fire and security systems Servicing and maintenance of life safety and security systems Accurate completion of technical documentation Use of specialist tools and test equipment Working knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. BS5839, NSI, BAFE) Understanding of IP, networked, and IoT-based systems (desirable, not essential) Competencies Strong customer service and communication skills Reliable, punctual, and well organised Proactive problem-solving approach High attention to detail Professional appearance and conduct Collaborative and respectful team player Requirements Legal right to work in the UK (essential) Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check (essential) Industry-recognised fire and security qualifications (desirable) 18th Edition (desirable)
