Associate Structural Engineer

The Opportunity An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an Associate Structural Engineer to join a growing, design-led civil and structural engineering consultancy in their Bristol office. This is a senior leadership role for a chartered engineer who wants more than just project delivery. You’ll play a key role in client relationships, business development and team growth, with the platform to shape your own team within an established and busy office of around 12 professionals. The consultancy delivers high-quality commercial and residential projects and operates with a boutique mindset — selective clients, bespoke solutions and strong technical standards — without the bureaucracy of a corporate giant. The Role As Associate Structural Engineer, you will combine technical leadership with client-facing and commercial responsibilities, helping drive both project delivery and the strategic growth of the Bristol office. Key responsibilities will include: Leading and delivering commercial and residential structural engineering projects Acting as a key client contact and trusted technical advisor Developing and maintaining strong client relationships Supporting business development and winning repeat work Mentoring, managing and growing a team of structural engineers Overseeing technical quality, consistency and design standards Working collaboratively with architects and the wider design team Contributing to the ongoing development of the Bristol office This role offers genuine autonomy, influence and the opportunity to build something of your own within a supportive, established environment. About You We are seeking a confident, commercially aware Chartered Structural Engineer who brings: Chartered status (MIStructE or MICE) Strong experience delivering commercial and residential projects Proven client-facing ability and relationship management experience Demonstrable business development and work-winning capability Leadership experience or a clear desire to grow and manage a team Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder skills A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset What’s In It For You?
