Section Engineer

Carmichael UK is working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a major highways project in Gloucestershire. We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to take technical responsibility for key elements of the scheme, with a strong focus on highways, earthworks, and drainage works. The Role As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing a defined section of works, providing technical leadership to site teams and ensuring delivery in line with programme, quality, and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of a defined section of highways works Provide technical guidance to Site Engineers and subcontractors Oversee delivery of earthworks, including bulk earthworks and cut & fill Manage and coordinate drainage works, including deep drainage and highway drainage Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and RAMS Oversee quality assurance processes, inspections, and as-built documentation Support short-term planning, reporting, and coordination with the wider project team Maintain high standards of health & safety and environmental compliance About You Proven experience as a Section Engineer on highways or major infrastructure projects Strong background in earthworks and drainage – essential Experience working for a Tier 1 or major civil engineering contractor Confident managing engineers and coordinating subcontractors CSCS card (essential); SMSTS desirable Organised, proactive, and delivery-focused
