Curriculum Leader


Nursery Curriculum Leader Location: Balham Reports to: Nursery Manager / Head of Early Years Salary: £37,000 - £40,000 Hours: Full-time Job Purpose The Nursery Curriculum Leader is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring a high-quality early years curriculum in line with the EYFS framework. The role ensures that teaching, learning, and assessment promote excellent outcomes for all children while supporting staff development and maintaining high standards of practice. Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Teaching * Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the nursery curriculum in line with the EYFS. * Ensure learning experiences are inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. * Monitor children’s progress and ensure accurate observation, assessment, and planning. * Promote play-based learning that supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Leadership & Staff Support * Support, mentor, and guide nursery practitioners in curriculum delivery. * Model outstanding teaching practice and support staff professional development. * Lead curriculum meetings, planning sessions, and training where required. * Work collaboratively with the Nursery Manager to maintain high standards. Quality Assurance * Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning across the nursery. * Support inspections (e.g. Ofsted) and ensure compliance with statutory requirements. * Ensure safeguarding, health, and safety procedures are embedded in daily practice. Partnership with Parents & Professionals * Build strong relationships with parents/carers to support children’s learning. * Communicate effectively about children’s progress and curriculum intent. * Work with external agencies and professionals as needed. We offer: - Room leaders earn a yearly salary from £33,000! - 40 hour working week (8am-6pm 4 days per week and a half day off each week) - 31 days holiday (including bank holidays and 9 days off over Christmas and Easter) - Earn more holiday the longer you work with us - Paid overtime, paid sick days, employer pension contribution - Individual yearly training budget - Regular team treats like trips out of London, go karting, yoga, team dinners Person Specification Essential * Level 3 Early Years qualification (Level 5/6 desirable) * Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework * Experience working in an early years setting * Leadership or curriculum responsibility experience * Excellent communication and organisational skills * Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice Desirable * Experience as a room leader or curriculum lead * Knowledge of Ofsted inspection processes * Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain) We look forward to receiving your application!
