Fleet Assistant & General Duties Operative About the Role We’re looking for a reliable, proactive and self-motivated Fleet Assistant & General Duties Operative to join our Estates and Facilities team. This is a practical, hands-on role supporting IC24’s vehicle fleet and wider estates activity across our Mid and South East (MSE) sites. Based primarily out of Phoenix House, Basildon, you’ll work independently across IC24 locations, helping ensure our fleet vehicles are safe, roadworthy and available to support frontline services. This role plays a vital part in keeping IC24 operational -particularly when vehicles are off the road or urgent issues arise. The role is currently offered as part-time, initially covering 15 hours over two 7.5-hour days, with flexibility around working days. You’ll need to be confident working on your own, managing your workload and responding proactively when issues arise. What You’ll Be Doing Driving IC24 fleet vehicles (manual and automatic cars, and occasional vans up to 3.5t) across IC24 sites Carrying out routine vehicle checks, preparation and reporting faults or defects Ensuring vehicles are fuelled, cleaned, valeted and ready for operational use Transporting vehicles to and from garages for servicing, MOTs and repairs Supporting fleet administration by capturing vehicle information and reports as directed Carrying out manual handling tasks including loading, unloading and moving items safely Completing basic building management checks, such as fire alarm testing, as directed Occasionally travelling and staying overnight where required to support IC24 operations About You You’re practical, dependable and comfortable working independently across multiple locations. You take pride in doing things properly, spotting issues early and helping keep services running smoothly. We’re looking for someone who is: A confident driver with a full clean UK licence, able to drive manual and automatic vehicles and vans up to 3.5 tonnes Over 21 years old Experienced in carrying out vehicle checks, fault reporting and basic vehicle care Comfortable travelling independently between sites and working without close supervision Physically able to undertake lifting and carrying tasks within safe limits IT-literate, able to use a laptop and enter data accurately Organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workloadExperience in a fleet, caretaker, estates or maintenance role would be beneficial but is not essential - training will be provided.
