HGV Workshop Controller

HGV Workshop Controller Location: Bideford Salary: Up to £52,000 per annum (DOE) Hours: Full-time Licence Requirement: Class 2 (Category C) About the Role We’re looking for an experienced and proactive HGV Workshop Controller to lead day-to-day workshop operations while remaining hands-on with vehicle maintenance and repair. This role combines technical expertise with team coordination, ensuring high standards of safety, productivity, and customer service. You will oversee workflow, allocate jobs, support technicians, and carry out diagnostic and repair work as required. Key Responsibilities Plan and manage daily workload across the workshop to ensure efficient job allocation Carry out hands-on servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles Ensure all work is completed to VOSA and company standards Support and mentor workshop technicians and apprentices Liaise with transport, service, and parts departments to minimise downtime Maintain accurate job records and workshop documentation Uphold health & safety and compliance procedures at all times Assist with breakdowns and urgent repairs where requiredSkills & Experience Required Proven experience in an HGV workshop / commercial vehicle maintenance environment Strong technical knowledge of HGV servicing, repairs and diagnostics Confident working both on the tools and in a supervisory capacity Excellent organisational and communication skills Ability to prioritise workloads and work to deadlinesEssential Requirements Class 2 (Category C) driving licence Recognised HGV / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification (or strong experience) Right to work in the UKDesirable Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Lead Technician, or Senior HGV Fitter IRTEC accreditation or similar (advantageous but not essential)Benefits Competitive salary up to £52,000 Ongoing training and development opportunities Supportive team environment Company pension and additional benefits (subject to package)  How to Apply: If you are a motivated and experienced professional looking to take the next step in your career, we would love to hear from you.
