Job Title: Construction Multi Skills Tutor Location: HMP Wandsworth Salary: Up to £35,000 + £5,000 London Weighting Contract: Permanent Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Construction Multi Skills Tutor to join the education team at HMP Wandsworth. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the opportunity to make a genuine impact by supporting learners who may have had little or no prior access to formal education. In this rewarding role, you will deliver high-quality, engaging training across a range of construction-based disciplines, helping learners to develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours that will support their future employability and personal growth. As a Construction Tutor, you will plan and deliver lessons to small groups of prison-based learners, ensuring training plans are in place and progress is effectively tracked. You’ll provide guidance, motivation, and support while fostering an inclusive and inspiring learning environment. Key Responsibilities: * Deliver engaging and practical lessons in a variety of construction multi-skills subjects, including core trade areas. * Create and deliver learning plans tailored to meet the individual needs and abilities of each learner. * Support learners in achieving qualifications, building confidence, and developing employability skills. * Provide ongoing feedback, assessment, and guidance to ensure learners reach their potential. * Maintain accurate records of learner progress and performance in line with company and awarding body requirements. * Promote a positive and safe learning environment that encourages participation and achievement. * Work collaboratively with colleagues and prison staff to ensure effective delivery and learner support. * Uphold safeguarding, equality, and diversity standards in all teaching and learning activities. * Continuously develop and update your own professional skills and knowledge. Essential Criteria: * A Level 3 vocational qualification (or above) in Construction or a related field. * Significant vocational experience within the construction industry. * Experience delivering training or teaching within a classroom or workshop setting. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to use a range of teaching methods to engage and motivate learners. Desirable Criteria: * A recognised teaching or assessing qualification (e.g. PTLLS, AET, CAVA, or equivalent). * Previous experience teaching within prison education or alternative learning environments. * Understanding of safeguarding, equality, and diversity in an educational setting.
