Mechanical Estimator – Pre-Construction / Bid Team Location: Office based Type: Permanent Role Overview We’re seeking a technically strong and commercially sharp Mechanical Estimator to join a busy pre-construction team. You’ll be responsible for producing accurate, competitive mechanical cost estimates for building services projects, working across design, procurement, and bid management. Key Responsibilities * Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to understand project scope * Perform quantity take-offs for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, pipework, plant) * Build up labour, material, and plant costs to produce detailed estimates * Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and engineering teams to secure pricing and clarify technical items * Identify value engineering opportunities and cost risk areas * Prepare and compile tender submission packages (BOQs, cost breakdowns, clarifications) * Assist with bid presentations and support negotiations post-submission * Maintain and update estimating databases, rate libraries, and historic cost data * Support handover to delivery teams upon contract award Skills & Experience * Proven experience in mechanical estimating within MEP or building services * Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, public health, plant) * Proficiency in estimating software or Microsoft Excel * Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills * Good commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously * Strong written and verbal communication skills What’s in It for You * Opportunity to work on high-value, technically complex projects * Real influence on bid strategy and value engineering * Clear career path within pre-construction / commercial teams * Supportive, collaborative environment
