Design Manager

Seeking a Freelance Design Manager with proven Ministry of Justice (MoJ) or HMPPS project experience. Responsible for leading, coordinating, and assuring multidisciplinary design delivery across all project stages. Key Responsibilities * Manage the full design process from concept to delivery. * Coordinate architectural, M&E, structural, security, and specialist design inputs. * Ensure compliance with MoJ Technical Standards, security requirements, and governance procedures. * Lead design reviews, workshops, and stakeholder engagement (incl. HMPPS, governors, estates teams). * Oversee design assurance, risk management, and CDM/BIM/ISO19650 compliance. * Maintain the design programme and manage design deliverables, submissions, and change control. * Liaise with contractors, consultants, and statutory bodies to enable design development. Requirements * Strong MoJ/HMPPS project experience (mandatory). * Background in design management within construction or public sector estates. * Understanding of secure environments, MoJ governance, and technical standards. * Excellent stakeholder coordination, communication, and assurance skills
