SEN Support Worker – PMLD Location: Bradford Start: ASAP, trial days available next week Contract: Full-time, long-term, 5 days per week We are recruiting caring and dedicated SEN Support Workers to join a secondary SEND school in Bradford supporting young people aged 11–19 with Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about providing hands-on care and support to students with complex needs. About the Role This role is focused on personal and physical support, rather than teaching and learning. You will work closely with students to meet their individual needs, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and wellbeing throughout the school day. Key responsibilities include: Supporting students with personal care, including toileting, dressing, hygiene, and positional changes Assisting students with mobility and safe manual handling (full training provided) Providing 1:1 support to help students regulate emotions and feel secure Encouraging engagement and independence in a nurturing, structured environment Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to follow individual care plans Maintaining accurate records of care and progress About You We are looking for staff who are: Caring, patient, and resilient Physically fit and able to perform multiple personal care duties during the day Reliable, flexible, and proactive in supporting students with complex needs Experienced in working with SEND, SEN, or vulnerable populations (experience in schools or care settings advantageous) Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, or sensory regulation strategies is beneficial (training provided) Strong communicators, able to work effectively as part of a team What’s on Offer Full training, including manual handling and safeguarding Supportive and inclusive school community Trial days available prior to full placement Clear route to permanent employment Rewarding role making a tangible difference in students’ lives Competitive pay and CPD opportunities Working Hours Full-time, 5 days per week Flexible options for split days may be considered (e.g., 10:00–14:00) Safeguarding Notice All applicants are subject to enhanced DBS checks, references, and eligibility verification to work in the UK.
