Mechanical Estimator – Building Services (M&E) Bedford | £50,000 – £65,000 + Benefits | Full-Time | Permanent Projects within ~25 miles of Bedford Our client, a well-established medium-sized M&E contractor, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their expanding team. They deliver a broad range of mechanical and electrical building services projects across the commercial sector and have a strong reputation for quality, consistency, and long-standing client relationships. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed estimating work, a mixed project portfolio, and being part of a supportive, well-structured business. The Role You will take responsibility for preparing accurate and competitive mechanical tenders across multiple commercial and public-sector projects. Key Responsibilities * Prepare mechanical estimates for a variety of building services projects. * Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation. * Complete detailed take-offs for mechanical systems and equipment. * Produce tender submissions, cost breakdowns, and clarifications. * Support value engineering proposals where required. * Ensure tenders are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines. About You A technically competent and detail-focused estimator with solid building services experience. Essential Skills & Experience * Experience as a Mechanical Estimator, or a practical background such as plumbing, pipefitting, mechanical installation, with exposure to quoting, pricing or estimating. * Strong technical understanding of mechanical building services systems. * Ability to interpret drawings and technical documents confidently. * Strong communication skills when dealing with suppliers and subcontractors. * High numerical accuracy and strong attention to detail. * Ability to manage multiple tenders at once.
