Technical Lead

Job Title: Technical Lead – Aerospace / Rotating Machinery Location: Derby, UK Salary: £65,000 Job Description An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Lead to join a leading engineering organisation specialising in the design and development of advanced test systems for aerospace and rotating machinery applications. The successful candidate will lead the technical execution of engineering projects, setting direction across design, analysis, integration, and delivery stages. You’ll be the go-to technical authority, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safety, quality, and performance objectives are achieved. Job Responsibilities • Lead engineering programs from requirements capture through to delivery. • Define system specifications and oversee the design of complex mechanical, fluid, and control systems. • Review and approve design documentation, CAD models, and analysis results. • Support build, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities on-site and at customer facilities. • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate multi-disciplinary technical teams. Skills Required • Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or a related engineering discipline. • 15+ years’ experience within aerospace gas turbine or rotating machinery industries. • Strong background in test rig design, analysis, and systems integration. • Proficient in CAD and analysis tools such as NX and ANSYS. • Knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, and relevant aerospace standards.
