Job Description: Site Engineer Location: Rickmansworth Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 per annum (depending on experience) Contract Duration: Project running until 2029 The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our expanding water and infrastructure team in Rickmansworth. This is a long-term opportunity on a major water infrastructure programme, with enabling works currently underway and full construction due to commence in summer 2026. The role offers an excellent platform for professional growth, providing exposure to complex civil engineering projects and the opportunity to progress into senior engineering or management roles over the life of the project. The Role The Site Engineer will be responsible for delivering all on-site engineering activities across a multi-year infrastructure scheme. You will play a key role in establishing levels, setting out works, and ensuring construction is delivered safely, to quality standards, and within programme and budget. Working closely with Site Agents, Project Managers, and commercial teams, you will ensure all works meet client expectations and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Engineering and Site Management Establish and maintain survey control and accurate setting out for all works. Supervise and support daily operations on streetworks and pipeworks infrastructure. Prepare Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), risk assessments, and method statements. Produce two-week lookahead programmes and support overall project planning. Maintain detailed records, including site diaries, allocation sheets, and as-built documentation. Resolve on-site technical and construction challenges efficiently. Support safe and effective delivery of all works in compliance with legislation and company procedures. Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Promote a strong safety culture and ensure works are completed safely and responsibly. Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and company policies. Drive high standards of workmanship and ensure defect-free delivery. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and value engineering. Communication and Collaboration Liaise with design, procurement, and project teams to ensure work packages are effectively delivered. Build positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders. Support reporting and project documentation requirements. About You Essential Proven experience working on streetworks and pipeworks projects within the water, utilities, or infrastructure sectors. Strong technical understanding of civil engineering and construction processes. Proficiency with total stations, GPS, and AutoCAD. Excellent understanding of Health & Safety, CDM, and environmental regulations. Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Effective communicator with strong problem-solving skills. Self-driven, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality results. Desirable SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme). TWS (Temporary Works Supervisor). CSCS card (appropriate level). Cable avoidance, confined space, or first aid training. NEBOSH or IOSH certification. Project Timeline Preparatory and enabling works: ongoing. Main construction phase: commences summer 2026.
