Reporting to: Compliance Manager Responsibilities and Tasks The Compliance Assistant will support the Compliance Manager in the day-to-day administration and delivery of compliance requirements. Key responsibilities include: Compliance Administration • Maintain accurate records of supplier approvals, certificates, and compliance documentation. • Assist in scheduling and organising audits, inspections, and training activities. • Ensure compliance files are scanned, saved, and accessible for traceability. • Support in the preparation of reports, documentation, and customer responses. Regulatory & Standards Support • Assist with compliance activities related to BRCGS Packaging Materials, ISO standards, and customer audits. • Help maintain compliance with UK Packaging Waste, EPR, and environmental reporting obligations. • Carry out regular checks to ensure training, certifications, and contractor records are up to date. Operational Support • Conduct forward and backward traceability checks under the guidance of the Compliance Manager. • Assist in mock recalls/product withdrawal practice exercises. • Prompt teams and contractors about compliance requirements (e.g., H&S audits, training expiry). Customer & Supplier Support • Respond to basic customer compliance queries (SAQs, portals, certificates) and escalate when needed. • Support with supplier due diligence by collecting and checking compliance documents. Learning & Development • Undertake compliance training and build knowledge of packaging industry regulations. • Support continuous improvement by suggesting ways to simplify or improve compliance processes. Qualifications and Experience • Strong administration and organisational skills. • Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping. • Good communication skills, able to liaise with suppliers, customers, and colleagues. • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Flexible and willing to learn. • Motivated to develop career in compliance/quality management. Desirable • Experience in a packaging, labelling, or manufacturing environment. • Familiarity with compliance standards (ISO, BRCGS) or regulatory reporting. • H&S to desirable but not essential.
