Learning Support Assistant - Performing Arts SEMH College
Location: Islington Full-Time September 2025 Start
This isn't your standard classroom. And this isn't your standard support role.
Remedy Education is working with a one-of-a-kind SEMH college in Islington that specialises in performing arts. The young people here are aged 16-19, and while they've each faced their own set of challenges - emotionally, socially, and academically - they've also chosen a creative path. And that's where you come in.
We're looking for someone who can provide consistent, calm support to students who might be difficult to reach but are far from impossible to inspire. You don't need to be a dancer, an actor, or a musician - though creativity helps - but you do need to understand how powerful it is when a young person finally finds a way to express themselves.
This college supports students with social, emotional and mental health needs, often alongside autism, ADHD or behavioural issues. Some will need help regulating in the mornings. Others might shut down when lessons get tough. Many will thrive under routine, fairness and genuine encouragement. If you're the kind of person who doesn't flinch at a tough conversation - but knows when to step back and let someone figure things out - you'll fit in here.
The role includes:
What you'll need:
This is a college where students come alive on stage - but might struggle with a group task. Where building trust matters more than sticking to a lesson plan. And where staff genuinely believe that creativity can be a turning point, not a side project.
If that sounds like somewhere you'd like to work, we want to hear from you.
To apply, send your CV to Remedy Education or call (phone number removed) for more information. Interviews will be arranged ahead of September.
Please note: You must have the right to work in the UK and be committed to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable young people. All roles are subject to enhanced DBS and reference checks.
