Assistant Accountant


A well-established SME in the construction sector is looking to appoint a reliable Assistant Accountant to support reconciliations, credit control, payroll and month-end processes. This is a varied, hands-on role which will work under an experienced Finance Manager. The position will be fully office based at our clients offices in Ossett. Main duties of the role Managing the credit control process – issuing statements, chasing payments. Posting purchase and sales invoices; preparing supplier payment runs. Reconciling bank, supplier and credit card accounts. Assisting with accruals, prepayments and other month-end tasks. Assist with weekly/fortnightly/monthly payroll for employees which is in the processes of being outsourced to external. providers; entry of associated journals and submission to HMRC.  Performing balance sheet reconciliation.The Ideal Candidate: AAT qualified or equivalent experience Confident across transactional finance with hands-on payroll and credit control experience Accurate, well-organised and dependable Good working knowledge of Excel and experience using finance systems (e.g. Sage, Xero)What’s on Offer: £28,000 – £32,000 Study Support can be provided for AAT, ACCA OR CIMAIPS Finance has 45 years’ experience in the Yorkshire accountancy recruitment market.
