A special school located in Southampton is currently looking for an individual to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant . The individual need to be patient, helpful and care about making a positive difference.

The role as a SEN Teaching Assistant will heavily involve working alongside a couple of students who have additional needs and ensuring all their work is up to date. You will aid them during lessons to make sure that they understand everything and implement techniques that can help improve their knowledge and learning. You will also have to liaise with the school s SENCO, reporting the children s progress and any cause for concern. You may also have to help any other students in the class who are having trouble with work.

Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant Role:

• Implement strategies to support students with diverse special needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs to help them reach their maximum potential.
• Cooperating with teachers and fellow SEN Teaching Assistants to foster an inclusive atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Utilising various methods to encourage positive behaviour and active participation in learning activities.
• Contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment by assisting with behaviour management and fostering a sense of belonging among students.
• Offer personalised one-on-one assistance to students with special needs.Top of Form

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant role:

• Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs.
• Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
• A patient and nurturing approach to working with children.
• Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.

• Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies.
