Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? GSL Education is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in York from September 2025 .

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a well-regarded school that caters for students aged 11 to 19 with a wide range of additional needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties, autism, and complex needs . The school is known for its strong pastoral ethos, inclusive approach, and high levels of staff support and training.

Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:

• Provide tailored classroom support to students with a range of SEN, including autism and learning difficulties.
• Assist the class teacher in implementing individual learning and behaviour plans.
• Promote engagement, independence, and confidence in learners.
• Support pupils with personal care when required.
• Foster a safe, nurturing environment that supports each child s development.

As the ideal Teaching Assistant, you should have:

• Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
• A genuine passion for supporting inclusion and diversity in education.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• An understanding of EHCPs and differentiated learning (preferred).
