Infrastructure Engineer

The Role

You will work closely with the Head of IT Services and the wider team to deliver high-quality, dependable support to staff and students alike.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the physical and virtual server environments, endpoint devices, core infrastructure services and M365 systems. This will be a broad role, covering operational reliability, cyber security, and user support.

This is a permanent role, paying up to GBP45,000 with a fantastic benefits package! Please note, this is an office based role.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and support physical and virtual Windows server environments.
• Administer VMware ESXi based systems and related infrastructure.
• Manage and support SAN infrastructure.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, and DNS services.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365 services.
• Manage endpoint configuration and compliance policies using Microsoft Intune.
• Assist with the deployment of security patches and updates across endpoints and Servers.
• Jointly advise on and monitor all aspects of IT cybersecurity.
• Contribute to managing and supporting the backup infrastructure, while contributing to the development, testing, and maintenance of disaster recovery and continuity plans in coordination with the Head of IT Services.

About You

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration.
• Experience managing Microsoft Intune for device enrolment, compliance, and configuration.
• Solid understanding of Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
• Familiarity with Azure AD and hybrid identity services.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
• Experience with endpoint support Windows including application deployment and remote troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
• Proficiency in PowerShell Scripting for automation and administration.
