Location: Gedling
Salary: GBP90 GBP110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are looking to appoint a dedicated and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to work in various schools in Gedling , starting from September 2025 . As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) , your role will be to support children and young people with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language delays, and social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Working closely with teachers and SENCOs, you will help to create a calm, focused, and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Main Responsibilities of a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored support to students in both one-to-one and small group settings
  • Support the implementation of IEPs and EHCPs to meet individual learning goals
  • Assist with planning and adapting learning materials to suit diverse needs
  • Monitor and record progress, reporting concerns and achievements to teaching staff
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all learners
  • Assist in behaviour management and de-escalation when necessary
  • Promote independence and confidence in students
  • Liaise with parents, staff, and external professionals to ensure continuity of support
  • Support students in developing social and communication skills
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection protocols at all times

SEN TA Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN as a SEN Teaching Assistant or similar
  • Understanding of a variety of learning needs and how to support them effectively
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable but not essential
  • A degree in Psychology, SEND, Counselling or a similar field is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills
  • A calm, proactive, and patient approach to support
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
