Occupational Health Coordinator


BMC Recruitment Group are currently recruiting for an Occupational Health Coordinator to join a client who operates within the rail industry, based in Birmingham .

About the Role
  • Salary: GBP25,000 to GBP30,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid working model (4 Days Office / 1 Day Working from Home)

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Monitor the medical inbox, responding to queries efficiently.
  • Support HR Business Partners with Absence Management referrals
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of clinics and appointments, managing bookings and queries.
  • Liaise with the resources team and local depots to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Manage all medical bookings, including new entrant, periodic, and Drugs and Alcohol screening.
  • Handle Physiotherapy referrals and record periodic results on the ACMS system.
  • Compile reports for the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) on a periodic basis.
  • Manage relationships with the Occupational Health provider, escalating queries and complaints
  • Act as the first point of contact for all Occupational Health enquiries.
  • Support Managers with Occupational Health Referrals, ensuring relevant information is included.
  • Proactively resolve issues and identify opportunities to improve People Management.
  • Produce accurate reports as required.
  • Act as a point of contact with Head of Occupational Health and Wellbeing.
  • Track private treatment referrals and manage budgetary control for hearing aids/glasses.
  • Work with the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Wellbeing team on Wellbeing initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and Trauma Support providers.
  • Attend Safety, Security, and Environment Group (SSEG) meetings to provide data on Periodic and Drugs & Alcohol medicals.
  • Plan and organise activities, ensuring appropriate adjustments and communication relevant to changing circumstances.
  • Maintain the security of sensitive personal and other confidential information, adhering to Information Governance policies.

About You
  • Previous experience in an Occupational Health
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in using HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a flexible approach.
