Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle
Hybrid Role - 80% site-based, 20% in-office responding to enquiries.
About the Role
Are you ready to play a vital part in shaping and maintaining the roads and public spaces of your community?
We're looking for a Network Steward to join our dynamic highways and infrastructure team. In this role, you'll take ownership of highways inspections, enforcement, and maintenance across a designated area, ensuring that public infrastructure is safe, compliant, and in top condition.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about public service, street scene standards, and delivering high-quality work in a visible, impactful role.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the inspection, maintenance, and improvement of highway infrastructure in your area.
Carry out routine safety inspections, license checks, and respond to utilities queries.
Provide excellent customer service to residents, businesses, and stakeholders.
Conduct utility inspections under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
Enforce standards under the Highways Act 1980 and Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Issue notices for improperly parked vehicles and ensure swift resolution of public concerns.
Ensure all enquiries are acknowledged or actioned within 48 hours.
What We're Looking For
Experience in highway inspection, preferably in an urban setting.
A customer-first attitude and strong communication skills.
A commitment to promoting diversity and equality in service delivery.
Willingness to undertake further training and continuous professional development.
Ability to interpret and apply legislation related to street works and enforcement.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and confident working independently on site.
