Why this role stands out £42 per hour £100 per week travel and accommodation payment Payment confirmed for new and existing agency placements until 31 August 2026 Available to workers who live more than 50 miles from Swindon Join a fast-paced Assessment Team where experienced social workers are trusted to work with autonomy and make a genuine difference Working pattern This role offers a structured hybrid model with a clear office requirement: Duty week: 5 days in the office Duty week is every 5 weeks Non-duty weeks: 3 days in the office What you'll be doing As part of the Children's Assessment Team, you'll: Complete high-quality child and family assessments Hold and manage complex cases confidently and independently Assess and manage risk at a high level Produce strong, timely and defensible assessments and reports Contribute expertly to strategy discussions, safeguarding decisions and case conferences Work closely with partner agencies and senior professionals Model excellent practice and support less experienced colleagues where needed What we need from you This is a role for a capable, resilient and highly effective practitioner. To be considered, you must have: At least 3 years' post-qualified experience 3 years' PQE gained in a permanent setting Experience in a Children's Assessment Social Work role Must be a car driver A recognised Social Work qualification Social Work England registration Candidate non-negotiables We are looking for social workers who can clearly demonstrate: 1. Strong Safeguarding Practice & Legal Knowledge You understand statutory duties, safeguarding thresholds and the legal framework that underpins excellent assessment work. 2. Highly Effective Communication & Professional Curiosity You ask the right questions, challenge appropriately, and keep the child's lived experience at the centre of your work. 3. Reliability, Accountability & Good Case Recording You are organised, dependable, and produce accurate, timely case notes and high-quality recording. 4. Emotional Resilience & Safe Professional Boundaries You stay calm under pressure, manage challenge professionally, and maintain strong boundaries in complex situations. 5. Commitment to Values, Diversity & Ethical Practice You bring inclusive, respectful and values-led practice to every case, every family and every professional relationship.
