The Opportunity Our client, a leading engineering organisation within the nuclear sector, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join their team on a major uranium enrichment FEED project. This is a senior-level position offering the opportunity to take full ownership of the electrical scope on a complex and high-profile programme. The Role Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager and/or Electrical Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading all electrical engineering activities. This is a purely electrical role, requiring recent nuclear sector experience. Key Responsibilities * Take full responsibility for delivery of the electrical scope, including planning, reporting, and change management * Lead engineering meetings and coordinate delivery across the electrical team * Support project cost estimates, including CTR development * Produce, review, and approve a wide range of engineering documentation, including: * Basis of Design * Power system and protection studies * Earthing and lightning protection calculations * Equipment sizing and load schedules * Technical specifications, datasheets, SLDs, schematics, and layouts * Prepare requisitions for key electrical equipment (HV/LV switchgear, transformers, motors, UPS systems, etc.) * Evaluate supplier quotations and produce technical bid assessments * Define installation scopes and ensure deliverables meet project requirements * Ensure compliance with all relevant UK and international codes, standards, and regulations Additional Responsibilities * HV power system modelling and protection studies * Liaising with DNOs and key project stakeholders * Managing equipment ageing and obsolescence strategies * Supporting site teams with technical and operational issues Requirements * Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (or equivalent experience) * Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional accreditation * 15+ years’ experience, with recent experience in the nuclear sector (essential) * Strong knowledge of UK legislation, standards, and compliance requirements * Experience working in hazardous or explosive environments * Familiarity with CE marking requirements (ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, EMC) Personal Attributes * Strong leadership and team management experience * Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills * Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget * Strong focus on safety, risk management, and HSE compliance * Proactive, motivated, and solutions-oriented * Customer-focused approach This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected organisation and play a key role in delivering a strategically important nuclear project
