PMLD Teaching Assistant (Full-Time) Maidenhead | Specialist SEN School ASAP / September Start | £90 £110 Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced specialist setting in the Maidenhead area to appoint a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant. The Role As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with complex learning difficulties and additional needs, working closely with teachers and therapists to deliver personalised, meaningful learning experiences. Key Responsibilities Supporting pupils with PMLD on a 1:1 basis or in small groups Assisting with personal care, feeding, and mobility where required Supporting sensory-based and play-based learning activities Helping to deliver individualised learning programmes tailored to each pupil Promoting communication using alternative methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory cues) Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment Encouraging engagement, independence, and emotional wellbeing Supporting pupils with medical and physical needs Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff Requirements Experience supporting children or adults with PMLD, complex needs, or SEN A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Comfortable supporting personal care needs Ability to work full-time in the Maidenhead area (ASAP or from September) A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners Desirable Experience in a specialist SEN school or similar setting Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication systems Experience supporting pupils with physical disabilities and complex medical needs Understanding of safeguarding and SEN best practices Relevant qualifications in health & social care or education Why This Role?
