Job Title: OR(phone number removed) - Assistant Head of Building Control & Enforcement Manager Contract Duration: 3 Months Hours Per Week: 36 The Role * We are seeking an experienced Assistant Head of Building Control & Enforcement Manager to lead and develop our enforcement and regulatory functions within Building Control. * This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring compliance with complex building safety legislation, managing a growing team, and driving operational excellence across enforcement, dangerous structures, and regulatory processes. * You will play a pivotal role in protecting public safety, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting the Council's strategic objectives in relation to building safety and performance. Key Responsibilities * Lead and manage the Building Control enforcement function in line with the Building Safety Act 2022 and related legislation * Take responsibility for compliance with: * Building Act 1984 * Building Regulations 2010 * London Building Acts (Amendment) Act 1939 * Maintain accurate records and reporting to the Building Safety Regulator * Provide technical leadership across: * Plans assessment * Inspections * Enforcement strategy About You You will be a highly experienced Building Control professional with strong leadership capability and deep technical expertise. Essential Experience * Significant experience across the full Building Control lifecycle, including enforcement * Strong working knowledge of building safety legislation and regulatory frameworks * Experience managing enforcement cases, including legal proceedings * Experience working on complex and high-risk buildings * Proven ability to lead and develop teams Skills & Competencies * Strong leadership and decision-making ability * Excellent technical judgement and risk assessment skills * Ability to interpret plans, carry out inspections, and produce detailed reports * Commercial awareness and financial management capability * Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Qualifications * Registered Building Inspector's Class 3 (Specialist) (minimum requirement) * Eligibility for Class 4 (Technical Manager) desirable * Equivalent qualifications (e.g. CABE) considered
