CNC Mill-Turn Programmer Location: Galway, Ireland Salary: €50-55k Hours: Monday to Friday | Day Shift Start Date: ASAP The Opportunity Syntech Recruitment are working with a precision engineering manufacturer in Galway seeking an experienced CNC Mill/Turn Programmer to join their machining team. This is a hands-on role focused on the programming, setting and operation of advanced CNC mill/turn machinery producing complex, high-precision components for demanding engineering sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in determining efficient manufacturing methods, supporting shop floor machining operations, improving cycle times and reducing production costs, while maintaining exceptional quality standards. Experience with Starrag machines would be advantageous, however the client is open to candidates with strong experience across any CNC mill/turn platforms and controls. Key Responsibilities * Programme, set and operate CNC mill/turn machines within a precision machining environment * Produce high-precision machined components from engineering drawings and CAD models * Generate efficient machining strategies and tool paths using CAM software such as SolidCAM, Hypermill or similar * Optimise machining processes to improve cycle times, efficiency and component quality * Select suitable tooling, fixtures and machining methods for complex components * Carry out in-process and final inspection activities to ensure adherence to tight tolerances * Support continuous improvement initiatives across machining and production operations * Troubleshoot machining and process-related issues on the shop floor * Maintain safe working practices and ensure machines are operating efficiently * Support machine maintenance and basic fault-finding activities where required Candidate Requirements * Minimum 5 years’ experience within CNC machining, ideally within mill/turn or multi-axis machining environments * Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC mill/turn machines * Experience using CAM software such as SolidCAM, Hypermill or equivalent * Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles * Strong understanding of tooling, fixtures and machining strategies for precision components * Experience working to tight tolerances within high-specification manufacturing environments * Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to machining challenges * Able to work independently and collaboratively within a production team Desirable Experience * Experience with Starrag machines * Exposure to multi-axis or 5-axis machining environments * Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles * Experience manufacturing components for aerospace, medical, automotive or high-precision industries What’s on Offer * €45,000 – €55,000 salary depending on experience * Permanent day-shift position with strong work-life balance * Opportunity to work with advanced CNC machining technology * Stable and growing precision engineering business * Technically challenging and varied machining work Summary This role is best suited to an experienced CNC machinist/programmer with strong multi-axis or mill/turn experience who enjoys a hands-on manufacturing environment.
