We are offering a rare opportunity to transition out of the motor trade and into the rail industry, with full training provided. No rail experience needed We will cross-train you from automotive into rail engineering You’ll use your existing mechanical skills while learning to work on freight locomotives and rolling stock, a stable, higher-paying, and long-term career path. Ideal Background We are specifically looking for people from: Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic Automotive Technician (Dealership or Independent Garage) HGV / LGV Technician Plant Fitter / Plant Mechanic REME / Forces Vehicle Mechanic If you can diagnose and fix vehicles — we can train you on trains What You’ll Be Doing: Carrying out maintenance and servicing on rail vehicles Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults Performing inspections and testing Completing maintenance paperwork Working independently in a mobile role (van provided) Working Pattern: Rolling 6-week rota Typically 4 x 10-hour shifts Includes “as required” support week What You Need: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance / Mechanical Engineering Full UK Driving Licence Ability to pass: DBS check Medical Drug & alcohol screening British citizen (role requirement) Career Progression This is not just a job — it’s a career move out of the motor trade: Vehicle Technician → Rail Fitter → Technician → Team Leader Longer-term opportunities in: Technical Services Asset Management Training & Development This company is known for promoting from within Why Apply?
