Tax Manager Manchester £55,000 plus excellent benefits Cherry Professional is delighted to be partnering with a well-established Manchester accountancy firm to appoint a General Tax Manager to support continued growth across its local client base. You’ll work closely with the Partners, take ownership of a portfolio of owner-managed businesses and small corporates, and deliver a blend of tax planning and tax compliance across Income Tax, Corporation Tax and VAT. The role This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you’ll manage relationships, ensure high-quality compliance delivery, and contribute to advisory work that genuinely adds value to local businesses. Key responsibilities Work directly with Partners on tax planning and advisory projects for OMBs and small corporates Manage a varied client portfolio and act as a trusted point of contact Oversee and review tax compliance work including: Income Tax / Self-Assessment Corporation Tax VAT (supporting compliance and advising on queries as they arise) Spot opportunities for tax efficiencies and proactively raise planning ideas Support, review and develop junior team members (delegation, coaching, quality control) Liaise with HMRC where required and ensure work is delivered accurately and on timeAbout you Strong UK practice experience in a general tax role (planning + compliance) Comfortable managing a client portfolio and building long-term relationships Broad tax knowledge across Income Tax, Corporation Tax and VAT CTA / ACA / ACCA qualified Commercial, pragmatic approach—able to explain tax clearly to non-technical stakeholdersWhat’s on offer £55,000 salary plus benefits Hybrid working and a supportive, down-to-earth culture Partner exposure and autonomy over your portfolio A good mix of planning and compliance (not purely production-led) Clear progression as the tax offering continues to expandApply If you’re a Tax Manager (or a strong Assistant Manager ready to step up) looking for a broader, local client portfolio in Manchester, please apply or get in touch for a confidential conversation.
