Senior Estimator

Our client is a well-established main contractor specialising in high-quality commercial fit out and refurbishment projects across London and the South East, delivering schemes with values of up to £40m. They operate across the full spectrum of workplace interiors, including Cat A, Cat B, design & build, refurbishment, and bespoke office interiors. Their projects span a wide range of sectors including finance, media, technology, education, creative industries, and coworking operators, delivering dynamic and functional workplaces tailored to each client’s needs. With a strong track record spanning over two decades, the business has built a reputation for delivering complex, high-specification interior projects with a focus on quality, collaboration, and consistent delivery. Their work typically includes full turnkey solutions incorporating construction, joinery, M&E coordination, and bespoke interior finishes. The Role Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an Estimator / Senior Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This is a key position within the business, responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders for a wide variety of commercial interior projects. You will be involved from early enquiry stage through to submission and handover to the delivery team. The role will suit someone who is commercially astute, detail-oriented, and confident working on fast-paced, design-led projects in a competitive tendering environment. Key Responsibilities Preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial fit out and refurbishment projects up to £40m Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and employer’s requirements Undertaking take-offs and preparing accurate BOQs where required Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations Analysing and comparing tender returns Working closely with pre-construction, design, and commercial teams to develop winning bids Identifying risk, value engineering opportunities, and cost savings Supporting bid submissions, presentations, and tender interviews Ensuring all estimates are completed accurately and within deadlines Contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes and cost database Requirements Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within a main contractor or fit out environment Strong background in commercial interior projects (Cat A / Cat B / design & build preferred) Ability to price projects ranging from fast-track refurbishments to complex, high-value schemes Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced tendering environment Strong communication skills and confidence working with internal and external stakeholders Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel What’s on Offer Strong pipeline of varied and technically interesting work Supportive and collaborative pre-construction team environment Clear opportunities for career progression within a growing business Exposure to leading clients across multiple sectors Competitive salary and benefits package (DOE)
