Senior Designer

An established engineering and infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Designer to support the delivery of complex industrial and energy-sector projects across the UK. This is a contract role and can be outside ir35. Suited to a motivated designer with strong experience in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) design, capable of producing high-quality technical deliverables while supporting junior team members and collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Produce safe, practical and cost-effective EC&I design solutions in line with project and company procedures Develop design deliverables including: Loop diagrams Block cable diagrams Schematic diagrams 3D models Prepare associated documentation such as: Bills of materials Cable schedules Design packs Material requisitions Support proposal and project activities as assigned by the Lead or Chief Engineer Mentor and support less experienced designers Review and check drawings in accordance with internal quality procedures Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders Ensure designs are developed with safety, operability and risk management at the forefront Promote safe working practices and ensure personnel are appropriately briefed and supported Requirements ONC / OND / HNC / HND or equivalent engineering qualification Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar EC&I / industrial design environment Strong understanding of design working practices and installation requirements across industrial sectors Proficiency in CAD software and 3D modelling tools Experience with AVEVA PDMS is highly desirable Knowledge of UK engineering legislation, standards and regulations Strong communication and collaboration skills Only those with proof of right to work in the UK should apply for this role
