We are currently supporting a large healthcare in the appointment of this senior leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, development, direction, and operational delivery of governance, risk, and assurance systems across the organisation. The postholder will report to the Executive Director of Nursing and Governance, work closely with the Executive Team to ensure robust clinical and corporate governance, regulatory compliance, through effective organisational oversight which includes Health and Safety. The role provides expert advice to the Executive Team and Board on governance, risk and assurance, ensuring regulatory readiness, and the effective identification, management and mitigation of risk. A key role in embedding a culture of transparency, continuous improvement and patient safety, ensuring that governance systems are not only compliant but drive quality, learning and organisational performance. You will demonstrate visible, proactive leadership, anticipate issues and act early to mitigate risk and strengthen governance arrangements. Operating with a strategic mindset, balancing immediate operational priorities with long-term organisational assurance and sustainability. Have a strong personal commitment to patient safety, quality and continuous improvement. An individual who champions a culture of openness, transparency and learning from incidents, complaints and audit findings. Ensuring that learning is translated into meaningful and sustained organisational improvement. Ability to translate complex governance and regulatory requirements into practical, actionable plans. Driving pace and momentum, ensuring timely delivery of key priorities such as audits, inspections, and reporting. Maintain a strong focus on outcomes, ensuring governance and assurance activity delivers real organisational value rather than process alone. Person Specification: * Educated to master’s level or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. healthcare management, governance, risk, law, or business administration). * Postgraduate qualification in Governance, Risk, Healthcare Leadership, or related discipline. * Relevant professional qualification (e.g. governance, risk management, audit, clinical quality). Or hold a healthcare registration with the NMC/HPCP etc. * Confident working at Executive and Board level, providing constructive challenge and independent perspective where required. * Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in high-pressure environments, including regulatory scrutiny, incidents or organisational change. * Experience supporting organisational growth, service mobilisation or transformation * Significant senior leadership experience within governance, risk, assurance or compliance in a regulated healthcare environment. * In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements, quality standards and inspection frameworks (including the Care Quality Commission).
