Due to continued growth and increasing demand for bespoke machinery, we're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering team. This is a hands-on role focused on the design and development of special-purpose machinery, working closely with internal teams from concept through to build and delivery. What You'll Be Doing Designing new machines, retrofits, and upgrades Creating 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks Producing sales layout drawings (SolidWorks / AutoCAD) Generating Bills of Materials (BOMs) Creating 2D drawings (assembly, part, fabrication) Developing pneumatic schematics Producing machine manuals and technical documentation Supporting the shop floor during machine builds Liaising with design and engineering teams to optimise designs Identifying and implementing product improvements Completing documentation including test plans and validation reports Resolving design and build issues with internal stakeholders What We're Looking For Essential: Mechanical engineering qualification (BTEC / HNC or similar) Strong background in mechanical design of machinery Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD Ability to produce BOMs, drawings, and technical documentation Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills Team player with good communication skillsDesirable: Degree in Mechanical Engineering 5+ years' experience in machinery design Experience with AutoCAD (layout drawings) Knowledge of pneumatic systems Experience building or commissioning machinery Exposure to validation and production line processes Chartered or working towards Additional Information Opportunity to travel to UK and overseas customer sites Involvement in full lifecycle engineering projects Collaborative, growing engineering environment
