Qualification - Degree / HNC / HND in Engineering and significant experience in Highways Construction and Maintenance Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use. Manchester City Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Team Leader in Planned Maintenance to join our Highways Service on a parttime basis (2 days per week). This is an excellent opportunity to play a key leadership role in delivering improvements to the city’s transport network—helping shape a safer, more accessible and more sustainable Manchester. Working within the Network Management team, you’ll join a highly skilled group of professionals designing, commissioning and delivering programmes that improve our roads and footways. What You’ll Do As Team Leader for Planned Maintenance, you’ll take a central role in manging the design, coordination and oversight of a variety of projects that keep Manchester moving. You will: Provide expert technical leadership across planned maintenance programmes Lead a team delivering a wide range of resurfacing schemes including reconstruction and preventative treatments such as micro surfacing, slurry seal and surface dressing Prepare contract documentation and lead the contractor procurement process Carry out Principal Designer duties (CDM 2015) Develop project plans, manage resources and monitor budgets Oversee contract management and ensure schemes are delivered to specification Produce high-quality reports and business cases Motivate and support team development, driving continuous improvement Champion the Council’s vision, values and long-term strategic aims About the Highways Service Our vision is to manage and improve Manchester’s highways network in a way that supports the city’s growth and ensures safe, reliable and sustainable transport.
